  • Tidus is arguably this in Final Fantasy X, his plight to return to his world becomes a subplot while the main plot centers on Yuna, and her goal to save the world by defeating Sin, all from Tidus' point of view.

Examples Are Not Arguable

Is he a First Person narrator? If so, say so.

It he a character other than the protagonist? If so, say so.

If it is third person, than it isn't this trope.

Basically, in a third person narration, the narrator is always someone other than a character, so the third person narrator can't be either the main character or a peripheral character.
