Isn't Captain Underpants an example? Since it drew inspiration from multiple books. Or am I completely wrong?

Das Boot - the Columbia 2005-or-thereabouts release of the 6-part series had the "previously" and end credits lopped off each episode and the whole thing spliced together into a 5-hour 2-disc version.

I remember seeing the series back in the '80s on BBC 2 as 45-50 minute episodes.. and have the full-length one on disc.
