This is still a terrible name for this trope. The trope barely applies to the game mentioned in its title; it's just a pun on "command economy." And puns are BAD when they suggest false things about the trope in question!

Demand in a medieval setting?

I guess someone must have missed history classes.

There was no such thing as supply and demand in the medieval times - capitalism didn't exist at that point of time. Of course it makes sense that the king or sovereign would have to state explicitly what to harvest and what to build.
