I know Tropes Are Tools, but I literally do not see the benefit of this. And Bane's case is more like Adaptational Nonsapience, bringing his mentality down to that of a mindless beast. From what I understand, it's a family film, so did they think kids wouldn't understand a Genius Bruiser? That's pretty insulting to young viewers if you ask me.

For the video example I'd compare Beast Boy from Teen Titans and Beast Boy from Teen Titans Go! Because he's significantly more of an idiot in the latter.
