I'm thinking of maybe dividing the two versions of Wicked into two different pages, and putting the musical under the theater section, since the two are wildly different stories. Anyone think this would be a good idea?

If you were just going to go ahead with it without waiting for a response, then why did you bring it up on the discussion page?

I don't see the point in upgrading to a hard split, especially since references to the musical will inevitably be potholed to the book this way.
