Whoever wrote the Collapsed Mid Speech entry hasn't read our Handling Spoilers policy, which says that spoilering an entire example makes it virtually useless. I have despoilered everything except what needed to be spoilered: the name of the person who collapses.

I also partially despoilered several other examples for the same reason.

  • The Watson: The four central characters consist of a genius computer, a genius engineer, a genius scientist, and Wyoh Knott. She is, allegedly, a skilled public speaker and rabble-rouser, but all of that happens off-stage. Her primary story role is to have things explained to her (and thus, the reader) by the other three.
    • This is unfair. We actually see Wyoh in action very effectively speaking for the cause at the meeting that starts the plot rolling. She also shows herself to be a Mistress of disguise with an knack for ingratiating herself with new people (ie: Mannie's family).

Right. So, we've got a contradiction of this example, so it's getting chopped. Seems like it's there just to complain about Wyoh's lack of a role, so, yeah.
