I believe the [game/story] did not consider it a Heroic death because he was stabbed in the back without the possibility to a) know that it was coming or b) retaliate.

Umm, I think I am the only one thinking this, but John did die heroically. Right when he and Rose were engaging Bec Noir. I would constitute that as an act of heroism taking on the Big Bad that turned into a Worf Effect. However, seeing as John got up from it, it has been a constant nuisance that the requirement to kill a God Tier has been fulfilled but was ignored. Does anyone have anything to possibly alleviate this?
