The time difference never really made sense anyway. A real world year for a human would have been about 10,000 for the inhabitants. Plus, what is a "cycle" for the computer inhabitants? My idea would be from when the computer is turned on to when it is turned off. Even as a fan of the original, I think the time difference was only so the computer people could have their own slang.
