Joffrey is an absolutely straight example of a snivelling Miles Gloriosus in the show. In the books, he's still largely a coward, but also tall and strong for his age, able to spar almost equally with Robb (nearly three years his elder), and even commands the defence of the Red Keep against a raging mob after he's fetched back during the Battle of Blackwater.
Both versions are wimps, and the show's version isn't notably more so. In the books, Joffrey is never shown to spar "almost equally" to Robb. He's shown afterwards, refusing to spar again with Robb by claiming he's above it, while Robb gently teases him that he got the worst of the exchange. Of their relative performance, all we can infer is that Joffrey lost badly enough to quit. The whole point of the scene is to show that Joffrey is an egotistical wimp. As for leading the defense of the Red Keep, all I can see is Lancel saying that Joffrey wanted to command the crossbowmen before getting recalled to Maegor's Holdfast. I don't think that's enough for an entry.
