  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Maybe. There are two possible interpretations to the film:
    • Magic: The witch is real, and she killed Sam, poisoned Caleb, tormented Katherine with visions, and abducted or drove away the twins. Black Phillip is Satan, and he murders William, and Thomasin sells her soul to him.
    • Mundane: Samuel and the goats were killed by a wolf or murdered by Thomasin. Caleb got sick from eating wild apples. Black Phillip killed the other goats, killed the twins, broke out of the pen, and gored William in a rage. The sightings of the Witch are hallucinations caused by hunger, illness, grief, and insanity. The very end of the movie is Thomasin's Dying Dream.

There's at least one thing that happens that can't be explained by distorted perceptions, and that's Caleb extruding a whole apple from his mouth that is wider than his throat. There's no explanation beyond the supernatural. A lot of the other explanations for the mundane interpretation are terrific stretches as well, and would belong on WMG.

From a glance at the page, that seems less like an actual explanation offered by the movie and more a WMG or Alternative Character Interpretation. Cut it.
