The list of tropes on this page names "eye of Horus means ancient Egypt" as a trope depicted in the film, but there are a few reasons this may not actually qualify. For one, as the description admits, it isn't recognised on-screen as being the eye of Horus, but rather the eye of Ra. The description suggests that this is a misattribution or mistake, but I'm not so sure - the two symbols are nearly identical (the only difference being the orientation and coloufilling of the pupil), and so the on-screen example may well be the eye of Ra. On another matter, it in no way informs the characters of an ancient Egyptian connection - they are already very aware of said connection given the discovery of the titular stargate in an Egyptian tomb, Egyptian hieroglyphics on the artifact, and the pyramid on Abydos - rather, the inscription notified the characters of a connection to Ra in particular. I think it ought to be removed from the list. Is there a recognised channel through which this ought to be accomplished?

I'm working on distilling this movie page to clear out a lot of references to the TV series that first-time viewers would be confused by - for example, the planet in this movie is unnnamed, and is only named "Abydos" in the TV series.

You know, the archaeologist who helped the movie people put in accurate ancient egyptian dialogue for the movie is a professor at this troper's college (UC Santa Barbara). He gave a presentation about it, and then tricked us into saying dirty phrases in ancient egyptian... twice.

He also helped with The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, apparently.
