If the Wikipedia article on Frank W. Abagnale, Jr. is correct, then quite a bit of the film was exaggerated in scope from his cons in real life. On one hand, you have to be amazed by how easily he and his co-writer Stan Redding could tell a tale through the book that spawned this film; on the other, that's one brilliant meta framing of how a con's life can be so fascinating.

In a sense, a fiction writer could use the book as a good reference point for honing their own craft.

I have heard a similar claim, and looking it up shows numerous articles tearing into Abagnale's reputation as an audacious imposter. They say his criminal history consisted mostly of stalking a girl, and small time check fraud. They are also claims that he was incarcerated during the times he pulled off his more outrageous stunts.

The claim that he worked for the FBI is also brought into question, as a book of the FBI's history has no mention of him. They're are also claims he continued to commmit fraud after his "reform".

Apparently there is a new musical coming out! I got a little CD with some songs in the mail and everything!

So are you the one who won't shut up about the damn musical that no one but you have seen?

That's uncalled for. There is a musical and its tropes are just as valid as those from the film. Since it's new, of course it won't be very well known, and tropes from it are going to be added a lot at once and then gradually, as for any work. What's wrong with musicals? I look forward to seeing this one!

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

True, True. There are times when the bitter jackass deep inside me comes to the surface, sadly this was one of those.
