O.K. So, what the hell is going on? There's a troper name Cerridwen that keeps deleting fanfic recs without explaining why!

Take it to Ask The Tropers. Someone official should be able to do something about it. FYI, Cerridwen, you're supposed to provide an edit reason before deleting.

I'm getting sick of going to the South Park page on fanfiction.net, scrolling through and finding stories that have nothing to do with the main characters, or South Park itself. It's mainly Original Character Mary Sue stories that feature the boys as either A: A love interest for the OC, or B: Side characters because the Original Character is the main focus. These types of stories are cluttering up the South Park category and take focus away from real South Park fanfiction. I think any story that has an original character in it as the main focus of the story should be deleted because those stories aren't focusing on the main characters of South Park.

Deleted from this page? 1. No. 2. No. 3. Hell no. Fanfiction takes place in a pre-established fictional universe. Focusing on the lives of the main characters is not mandatory - see also, the Elsewhere Fic, which is no less 'real' as a form of fanfiction than nineteen paragraphs dedicated to discerning what goes on within the confines of Kenny's parka. On an unrelated note, this page is for recommended fanfics - i.e., the good ones. Consequently, any OCs are considerably less likely to be Mary Sues.

If this is for recommended fanfics and this is the discussion page the previous poster has every right to post in the discussion page that troper's dislike of original character based fanfiction. IMHO OC fics are a waste of time. This page is for bringing up points NOT to recommend fanfictions. That would go under fanfic recs. Also, the first post was someone asking a question about why most of the fanfics were about sexual homosexual relationships. This is the DISCUSSION page for South Park fanfiction. Not the recommendation page. All Fanfictions that have OCs are terrible. There is nothing wrong with using characters from the show.

Of course the OP has the right to state their opinions on OCs. However, I also have the right to disagree with those opinions. Which is why this is a discussion page. Also, whilst I agree that there is nothing wrong with using the original cast, that does not make OC-usage bad. Indeed, 'all Fanfictions that have OCs are terrible' is a grotesque exaggeration. I cut my teeth with fanfiction in Warhammer 40,000, where it's actually pre-established canon characters that are stigmatised (it's seen as treading on the professional writers' toes), and encountered a great number of high-quality fics there. Whilst I recognise that South Park is more character-focused than that franchise, providing a new dynamic by having the canon characters interact with new ones is not inherently a bad thing (particularly if they're well-written - which, if they're on our fanfic recs page, they should be).

Why are most of the recommendations from 2008? Aren't there any good fanfics from 2009 2010, or 2011 you can recommend? And why are most of them well-known? Most I see are already on South Park Fanon wiki site. And they have high reviews. And they're mostly slash stories. Aren't there any fics with friendship or lesbian or straight couples you can recommend? And what about stories that are good, but have no reviews because they aren't well-known? Why not recommend fics that were written after 2008?

I usually head to AO 3 for my South Park needs, its better than www.fanfiction.net and it doesn't automatically correct your punctuation.

I know that I suck at writing summaries, and if I did, I'd totally give away the whole fucking story... so here are my South Park Fanfic Recommendations that aren't detailed enough for the main page: The Adventures of Taco Man and the Robo Inferno by DamnExpensiveEggs Pairings = Kevin/Clyde Rating = M POV = Clyde's Comments = 15 chapters, but short enough for one sitting. pretty damn funny, overall a really great fic. pretty much started the Stolovan (Kevin Stoley/Clyde Donovan) fandom. ALL ABOARD THE A.S.S. INVADER!

Teaching STYLE to 6th Graders by BroflovskiFan Pairings = Stan/Kyle Rating = T POV = Kenny's Comments = A deconstruction and reconstruction of what exactly "Style" is and why it's so special. Adult Kenny teaches a sixth grade sex-ed class about more than sex, but about friendship, relationships, and soulmates.

How come most of the romantic recommendations are not only gay versions of straight characters, but also mostly about children being sexually involved with other? Are there no fanfics that aren't creepy/borderline illegal?

For South Park? Think you picked the wrong fandom, bub.

None of the fics recommended here are about the characters when they're children — the fandom tends to age them up to at least high school, and often older. That said, it's pretty hard to determine the sexuality of an 8-year-old. Fic writers aren't creating "gay versions" of "straight" characters — they're creating speculative stories about what might happen if the characters grew up to be gay.

The stories aren't about the characters when they're children, the fanfiction author's age them up so the material they cover is age appropriate. And in canon they never specify whether or not someone is straight so you can't really say straight characters. They could be gay for all we know and the author's have every right to write romance stories anyway they want to.
