Does anyone want to add in some of the tropes from Magus' classic series fics? Erico seems to consider them part of the verse, but I honestly haven't read them.
Hide / Show RepliesMagus's work IS a part of the Legacy of Metal. So is the work of Maelgrim, and Roy Fokker 99 on fanfiction.net.
Remember that when I started out, it was in the realm of Mega Man X. Both Magus and I were inspired by Maelgrim's work, which is why you get references to Treeborgs, New Shirewick and so forth in our works.
Maelgrim had Mega Man 1 and 2 covered quite nicely (Mind you, even before he started up his MM 2 Novelization, we knew he had a Prologue sitting in the wings...), so Magus turned his attention to Mega Man 3 and onwards. He started pulling on some characters I created for flashback sequences in Demons of The Past to use as throwaways for this "Second Rainbow" notion, to demonstrate where MI 9 came from. Eventually, he started making more of his own. I know Trenton Corbun and Sennet are solely his ideas.
By the time I rolled around to working on GRL, Magus had chipped himself up to Mega Man 7, and between the two of us, we'd built a consistent backstory. With GRL, I took names, places and faces he'd/we'd made and showed what they did prior to the Robot Rebellions. all in all, a nice little way of connecting the dots into a seamless whole.
Then Maelgrim showed back up again, and there was much rejoicing! And lo and behold, what did he write to me but a desire to use GRL/Legacy of Metal people. Why, YES I said to him! As we used Treeborgs and the like, he was more than welcome to use the characters from GRL and Magus's works to further his own agenda. Maelgrim's sequence of events differs slightly on some minor points, but on the whole, his stories are meant to be taken as the prelude/interludes between Magus's work and my own.
Revokov has also expressed a desire to line up his work with Lo M "Fanon", so to speak, and should be doing so whenever he gets a chance in his hectic, hectic life.
And then there's the new kid on the block, Roy Fokker 99. He did an entry for "From The Sidelines" and liked the characters and plot in it so much he's begun writing a new story that picks up right where his short two-part tale "To Serve And Protect" left off.
So how about them apples? The Legacy of Metal isn't just MY work anymore, kids.
You've got five authors for the price of one.
And maybe more, some day.

Removed from main page, as there is a cleanup effort on Jossed underway and I am not sure what to do with this entry:
- Jossed: Some aspects, especially the whole "Zero killed em all" thing. Erico seems to think Maverick Hunter X did this to a lot of the verse, but then, nobody's quite sure how much of that counts...
