I really feel FO Es in Etrian Odyssey have no place in here. They're neither random or common or a result of bad or malicious playtesting. Every single EO game (on the DS at least) has at least one cutscene dedicated solely to telling the player not to attempt fighting FO Es; the third game even covertly mocks players stupid enough to not avoid FO Es. They are fully intended to be as dangerous as they are and a smart player will simply avoid encounters with them completely (which is always possible, barring boss battles, but then those are boss battles)
