I'm not convinced that #8 really qualifies as a Wham Episode. Looking at the guidance for that trope and comparing to the issue:
- We already knew that Brand was working with Orchis, that she saw the Arakkii and the Krakoans as disposable, and that she wants to make Sol an interstellar power
- It was clear she was working with Orbis Stellaris and manipulating Vulcan. The Reveal is how far back that alliance goes, with Vulcan's instability introduced by Brand before he returned to Krakoa, not just exploited.
It's an escalation, not a sudden shake-up in the status quo. We already knew Brand and Stellaris were bad guys working together. Nobody dies in this issue, there are no betrayals and the Krakoan status quo doesn't change. The stakes are clarified, and raised a bit. But that's all?
Hide / Show RepliesFair for most of that. But would say that finding out she’s behind the Vulcan stuff is big because it reveals how much her reach extends and how powerful she actually is
Agreed - but doesn't The Reveal cover that? Might be one for the Is this an example? forum thread, but Wham Episode is the sort of trope that's hard to judge if you don't know the series.
Added to the Is this an example? thread, and then signposted to the Wham cleanup thread for a second opinion - I'll leave it in place unless they come back with comments.
That said, as per the pinned post on that thread, examples should make sense to people who don't know the work AND those who don't know the trope. So it might still need some rephrasing to meet that standard.
Edited by Mrph1Deleted as per feedback on those threads - a couple of replies saying it didn't qualify, nobody replied with the view that it did.

Just to confirm - Ewing has said the book's not cancelled after #10 and he knows how #11 opens. More recently, he's confirmed in his newsletter that they're back to tell new stories after the hiatus for Sins of Sinister.
Marvel may go down the New Season, New Title route or launch it as another Sequel Series or renumber it - but nothing of that nature's been announced yet. All we know is that #10 is not "the end" and it's not cancelled.
With that in mind, we can't really add ending tropes (except for arc-ending tropes) until we know more.
