They each believe that Cletus attacked them because they have no way of knowing whether that it was Cletus and Cletus believes he did it because he is no longer a human body, but a memory within his symbiote's codex and it was his memory which Norman was brainwashed it. For all intents and purposes, it was Carnage/Cletus Kassady but in Norman's body.
