I think it's true! There are other places here that mention the poly relationship too, so even if it's not marriage I don't see why Polyamory can't be listed.
The new artbook refers to A as a woman.
I'm not gonna edit her section because I'll probably just get banned, but I felt like sharing the info anyway.
Hide / Show RepliesThe new artbook also gets Nikol and Glimmer's ages wrong.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeI say we keep an open mind as new information comes in, especially given A was female in the game's code.

Discussion has been taken to the character gender identity discussion thread.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeShould the Ambiguously Related addition on Panacea's folder connecting her to Ashera through Sharla be removed? The addition was removed from Ashera's own folder in the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Heroes due to more overt connections to Dunban than Sharla so should there be cohesion between the pages?
Not sure about the addition of Politically Incorrect Hero under Rex. There isn't any indication that being in a polyamorous relationship or being non binary are things that is frowned upon in Alrest, Bionis, or Aionios. Would changing the inclusion to Values Resonance be more appropriate?
Can Time Abyss really apply to Rex, Shulk and their proteges? Ignoring all the arguments that they hadn't been in Aionios for more than a decade or two (i.e. despite livng nomadic lives they mention they are seeing various landmarks from their old worlds for the first time since they were last in their old worlds), what about how there is no evidence that Aionios had at this point existed for more than a few centuries? To my understanding, Time Abyss requires a minimum of five thousand years.
Can we really say A is confirmed to simply be Alvis in a new body? It seems more complicated or ambiguous than that, especially given that the one time they are called Alvis it is in quotation marks, and A themselves repeatedly expresses that there is some distinction.
Also, is it not contradictory to say A leans feminine (their voice alone is extremely feminine) in both voice and body (they have noticeable curves, especially in the hips) but then say they have a nonbinary physical form? I thought an equally viable idea was that A's form was meant to distinguish themselves from Alpha, hence one looking male and the other female, possibly an aspect of them splitting rather than A being a more "genuine" expression of Ontos' nonbinary nature.
Edited by Perentie Hide / Show RepliesThe quotation marks are held over from Japanese. Non-literal quotation mark usage in Japanese I'd describe as setting the text apart, similar to emphasis. Some other instances in the ending were localized with *s: "二人"がいてくれてりゃあ (If only *those two* were here...), "あいつら"だったら喜んで協力してくれるはずだぜ? (If it was *them*...I don't think they'd even bat an eyelid at helping), and others removed: "その時まで" ね (Until the time comes, yes).
In my impression, the name might be significant as a parallel. A allows Shulk and Rex to remove their children's term marks, contrasting with the opening where Shulk's personal/emotional appeal meant nothing to Alpha while the A qualities were suppressed.
Overall, the game seems to approach the A/Alpha situation with an angle of A as the humanity Alvis developed that has now been freed, rather than Alpha being a missing piece. Ontos stops using the name "Alvis" as soon as the parts that later manifest as A are rejected. Characters refer to Alpha as "a heartless machine" "the chains of Ontos" "just a machine" and "an obsolete piece of scrap" (I also like the JP phrase here, 抜け殻 like the skin shed by a snake). Shulk, the only FR cast member who knew Alvis and is arguably most formative to that identity, certainly treats A as the Alvis he knew. In favor of keeping this brief, I'll only list, but this is additionally supported by the models and poses, animations, arts symbolism, and how Alpha and A interact with the larger themes of memories and life.
It ends up reading a little like Grew Beyond Their Programming or Become a Real Boy in a way? So while whether A can be considered Alvis is not clear-cut, it may not need too much disclaimer, since the narrative leans toward them being (perhaps a further development of) the same person at heart.
It's been a while since I played the first Xenoblade, but does Shulk have an idle animation where he just squats down to the ground for a second in that game? I bring this up because I noticed Nikol doing the same, so I feel like that'd be something to point out under Shared Family Quirks or something.
Edited by xVanitasWe currently have entries referring to A as nonbinary, female and "she." Perhaps its time to discuss what to call them to make things more consistent? Keep in mind that as far as I've heard, A is never given pronouns "they/them" either in the game. Yet, the game's code has them as female, despite Xenoblade's creators being careful to give other designations when they want to communicate in some way that a character is not exactly male or female.
Personally I like the idea that A took on a female form to distinguish from Alpha, but still didn't consider the term "female" to really encompass their being. Perhaps a hint to this is how A doesn't answer yes or no when Matthew asks if A is their real name, merely noting they consider the term "A" to be a sufficient analogy to a beginning.
Hide / Show RepliesDefinitely change the ones referring to A as female, those are outright wrong. The game can't be more clear than saying "Logos is male, Pneuma is female, and Ontos is somewhere in between".
While it's not game-accurate, it's probably better to keep the "they/them" pronouns so sentences don't become awkward to write.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeWhat appears in-game takes precedence over coding.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeI don't think Glimmer counts as a Ms. Fanservice. The description even says she's "the closest thing to one", so she isn't one. And unlike Ouroboros, she doesn't have any fanservicey outfits or transformations.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's life Hide / Show RepliesI'm not sure myself. The mere fact her outfit is a short-skirted miko-like one with visible cleavage might be considered fanservicey in its own right.
While I see where you're coming from, I'm wary that the trope may become diluted if "attractive young woman wears a minidress and has boobs" qualifies.
Edited by PresidentBrit TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeTrue, that a character has fanservice elements need not qualify them for a Ms. Fanservice. May be a grey area.
Something I saw a fanfic reference but I am unsure is true is that A is never referred to by "they/them" pronouns either, only called by name, "you", etc. If this is so could it point to A not considering themselves as having anything like a gender at all regardless of the sex of their current body? That they are coded in the game as female despite there being other available designations in the code muddles things further.
Hide / Show RepliesAlpha took A's pronouns in the divorce
Jokes aside, I don't remember A being referred to by any pronouns. Even the NP Cs refer to A as "that person".
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeWas it ever confirmed that A is a consul? I can't seem to find anything confirming that.
Edited by kah0922 Hide / Show RepliesI don't think so, or at least they never did any Consul work. It seems like after the battle with Rex, Shulk and Z, Alpha/Alvis was reduced back to a Core Crystal and eventually chose Na'el as a host. Then the explosion of power from N and Ghondor's battle enabled A to split off from Alpha, they apparently didn't exist before that so they couldn't have ever acted as a Consul. There are similarities in their outfits, but the similarities between A and Moebius seem to run no deeper than the similarities Moebius already had toward Blades in general. Perhaps there was never a Moebius A simply because Z held some respect toward his "god"?
Edited by PerentieXenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed has its own page. We should probably restore the general paragraph to the Inhabitants of Aionios page, and migrate the specific character folders over to the character page for that work.
Hide / Show RepliesI suggest doing it like with Xenoblade 2 and Torna. Also, I think A should be here and the Moebius page should redirect here instead of the state right now which is exactly the opposite way.
Should all spoilers be unmarked on this page if all folders are going to have unmarked spoilers?
Hide / Show RepliesI think Spoilers to XC 1, 2 and the maingame of 3 should be unmarked, while Spoilers to Future Redeemed can be marked.
Someone deleted the Polyamory page for Rex
According to the reason, because it isn’t confirmed they got married or not. They might be lovers instead. Understandable but usually in a poly relationship, not everyone involved is married. Sometime they are lovers and one of them is married for various of reasons.
What do you think?
Polyamory: He's implied to have married Pyra, Mythra, and Nia.
