Black Library Approved is a Games Workshop designation meaning "Fan-Written, Now Canonized". It's essentially something so well-done that the official game creators are declaring it to be canonical. All your other points make sense.
~Wandering Browser: Really? I've never heard of the term in the 25+ years I have been involved in the hobby. Also, where did the Halflings are failed Ogres come from as the lore I remember reading is that they were the other half of the Ogre race and that the Ogres adopted Gnobblers to fill the missing Halfling void.
On a more TV Tropes note, the entry has overuse of emphasis (bold and italics) which is discouraged by editing guidelines, and Trivia outside of the Trivia page, which is against guidelines. Also, fan terms should be avoided (so 5th Edition, not 5e)as all information on this wiki should be understandable by non-fans
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellIf a folder for the Old Ones were to be set up, would it be more appropriate to place it here or in the Lizardmen page?
Hide / Show RepliesDepends. If there is a lot of overlap of tropes then they should probably be there. On the other hand, they are effectively the gods of the Lizardmen and the other, non-Chaos, gods are listed here.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellMy reasoning with the gods was that they go here because they are not specifically tied to any one faction — the human gods are worshipped in most if not all human nations, for instance, while the elven gods are at least given lip service to by all three kindreds. This god or that one may have a greater following in one group, but you cannot really say that as a whole they belong in any one specific group's page. By contrast, for example, the Great Maw is specifically an ogre deity, and Gork and Mork are specifically orc and goblin deities, so I would figure they would be more appropriately placed on those character pages (the Great Maw already is).
With the Old Ones, my dilemma stems from the fact that technically they are their own faction with more or less tenuous ties to most living species, but they are also much more closely tied to the lizardmen than to anyone else.
Edited by TheriocephalusI would put them in the Lizardmen section personally as they are pretty much only mentioned in reference to them (and Chaos) in the army books. My main question, however, would actually be whether there are enough tropes for them to get their own folder. As I have said many times, this is a tropes wiki, not a Warhammer wiki. We are not here to provide information on every single aspect of the work, mealy to provide information on what tropes are used and how they are used. Everything else is just for added context.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellHonestly, there aren't all that many that I could find. I'll probably just put them under the main Lizardmen general folder sometime tomorrow, then.
I meant to put this in my previous post, but it was late and I forgot.
My own personal, self-imposed rules on making a separate section for a character/group are: 1) At least 3 tropes, preferably 5. 2) The trope list has to be longer than the description (and all entries should have a description). I feel that anything else is bordering on a stub.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellFive was the number I had, but I'm probably still going to slip them into the main Lizardmen folder, I think. I mean, they can always be grouped up later if more turn up.
Cool. Looking at the examples you added, I think some of them could be rewritten to be more about the Lizardmen themselves without loosing the Old One references (Ancient Artifact should probably mention the Engine of the Gods for example).
Edited by SebastianGray Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellI have a question about the following in the new Albion section:
"An Albion army for Warmaster appeared in issue #20 of Warmag, and was then reprinted into Warmaster Trial Armies Compendium 2009"
What exactly is this? Is any of it from an official Games Workshop product as it seems more like fanwork to me and if so doesn't really belong here. Also, are we putting release info in the description now? None of the individual pages have them and I am not really a fan (the main reason I keep them updated on the 40K pages is because they were there before I started editing).
Knowledge is Power, Guard it Well Hide / Show RepliesWarmag and the Warmaster Trial Armies Compendiums were official Games Workshop products in the same way that White D Warf was one. They're official enough that they're cited as sources in the official Warhammer Fantasy wiki's article on Albion.
Warhammer Fantasy Wiki is not an official source in any way shape or form, it is a fan wiki just like any other. Also, I did just look up the Warmaster Trial Armies Compendium 2009 mentioned on Google (something I probably should have done before making the above post and found the following at the end of it: "This publication is completely unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop Limited" (copy/pasted directly from the source) so it doesn't have any place here. I also did a brief search for Warmag and couldn't find anything, unless you mean the Warmaster Magazine produced by Fanatic, which is an official source but would have to go under that name as official names are always preferred over fan names.
Also, why include the IRL history of the army when that is not really the norm for the WFB pages?
Edited by SebastianGray Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellThe other human nations should get mentioned as well. Such as Tilea and Estalia.
Not all dreams are meant to come true, otherwise there would be a lot of dead people. Hide / Show RepliesIf there are tropes for them sure. Remember this is a trope wiki not a Warhammer/Games Workshop wiki after all
Knowledge is Power, Guard it Well
The Halflings are primarily tied with the Empire so would be better there. Also, as the Fighting Cocks are a Dogs of War regiment of renown, they should go in the Dogs of War section. Also, what is Black Library Approved? Black Library have never made rules as far as I known and Citadel Journal rules were rarely, if ever, allowed at official Games Workshop tournaments as Citadel Journal was a publication, at least until Fanatic took over. . Also Citadel Journal #36 was published in 5th Edition so would only have been usable for that edition, which should be noted.
