I vote mentioning it in his character description. Something like "For the first two seasons he was known as Vanya, but come season 3 he started going by Viktor after having an epiphany about his true gender identity." Or something to that general effect.
Tropes, and I have to assume character folders by association, should be written so as to be comprehensible to people that aren't familiar with the series and just saying he was formerly Vanya doesn't explain when he started going by Viktor.
Emphasis on vote. I'll go with whatever everyone else decides.
Edited by Eagal You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I agree with noting the transition and name change in the description. It's not a secret or anything (the creators and actors have spoken about it being an Actor-Inspired Element) and Viktor is still an adaptation of a character named Vanya.
Edited by SynchronicityWhatever it is, I think that it should have more notation than it currently has (which is next to none except in a trope).
I agree it should be put to a vote. But even so, what do we do about the examples in other pages?
Eh, I don't think noting the character's transness is so controversial as to need a vote (3 of us agreeing is more than many additions get) so I added a note to the description.
If more discussion is needed for the other pages I've pinged you both to a Wiki Talk thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16569599770A65662000
A minor question about Viktor/Vanya. Yes, the latter is a deadname. However, for people who have not reached As Episode 2 of Season 3, the lack of any mention of the latter name feels it would just confuse them.
Should there be more notation regarding it? I know that it is incorrect from the perspective of talking about him, but for sake of avoiding confusion for viewers who check in.
