The fact that she has sympathetic traits probably already disqualifies her from being a Hate Sink.
A Hate Sink is a character who is introduced to the story only so that the audience can hate them. This character is intentionally made to be vile and unsympathetic by the creator.
Plus, this page is mainly for the first series and not the second series, and Huang Rong is far from a Hate Sink in the first series.

Would Huang Rong fall under the category of a hate sink character? Although she has some sympathetic traits throughout the story, she becomes a complete bully towards Yang Guo, even antagonizing him by the time they met each other again when Yang Guo grew up!
