"Lean and Mean: Not as buff as the rest of the Akatsuki."

Orochimaru Not as buff as Yahiko, Konan, Juzo Biwa?

"Looks Like Cesare: A reason why people were wary of him before his Face–Heel Turn."

I couldn't find any information about it. Can anyone point out the source?

.

Is "Empowered Badass Normal" suitable for the character? Considering that Rock Lee is considered to be "Badass Normal" and orochimaru is still a genius without self-created superpowers?

I wouldn't say so. Heck, I question whether Rock Lee even qualifies for Badass Normal.

The Gift ? This doesn't suit him at all. He wasn't born talented, so this trope doesn't apply to him. Even "Training from Hell" is better, since almost every ninja in this world has been constantly training since childhood (especially during war) Orochimaru is Self-Made Man

Maybe Talented, but Trained could fit better? Orochimaru works hard sure, but he's also been considered a genius ninja since childhood.

Maybe, but I'm not sure. The advantage with which he started (high intelligence) pales in comparison with those that he earned with hard work (and there is a small chance that he achieved high intelligence with hard work).

In addition, he also started with a lot of obstacles (Repulsive appearance, deceased parents, lack of clan abilities, war)

But again, he was famed as a genius and favored by the hokage from a young age, it was Jiraiya who was more known for having to work. I wouldn't call his appearance repulsive either, nobody seemed to have an issue with it until he started doing evil things.

Genius counts, but not Hiruzen's favor. He wasn't born with Hiruzen's favor, so it doesn't fit the trope.

Yes, I did not find information that anyone avoided him because of his appearance.

Why the picture too big all of a sudden?

I feel as though the 0% Approval Rating trope is being slightly misused here. To my understanding, the trope requires that the character be feared and/or hated by literally every established character that has mentioned and/or interacted with them.

In Oro's case, he did have a few followers (namely Kabuto and Kimmimaro) who were genuinely devoted to him or at the very least respected him enough to remain loyal to him throughout the series. Neither of them seemed to really fear him and it's almost certainly not the case that they hated him.

Even in Oro’s younger years, Jiraiya and Tsunade still considered him a friend despite his creepy nature and appearance. Even Hiruzen stated that he was proud of Orochimaru despite everything.

Then there's the Boruto Era where Oro now has two sons, Log and Mitsuki. The latter evidently loves his father and while the former is harder to pinpoint, he still seems to respect his father to a degree and doesn’t seem to show signs of hatred or fear.

I'm not gonna completely delete the trope just yet. I just wanna get some other thoughts on this to see whether or not the trope is appropriate.

Yeah, despite Suigetsu at one point claiming everyone wanted Orochimaru dead, I think he still has too many people who at least felt something like care for him to count. Dedicated minions are allowed for the trope, but as you noted: Tsunade, Jiraiya and Hiruzen all still cared for him to some degree even after they considered him beyond redemption and became willing to kill him. Heck, not being able to redeem him is one of Jiraiya's dying regrets. And of course, after his hazy feel turn and legitimately helping save the world, he's less hated.

Yeah, I agree. Orochimaru does not qualify for 0% Approval Rating. Kabuto and Kimmimaro were genuinely loyal to him, Hiruzen considered him his favorite student, and he's no longer as hated as he once was.

If we're all in agreement, I'm gonna go delete the trope now.

Yeah, cut it for the reasons established. It's just not an example.

Orochimaru be an evil counterpart to Jiraiya since they are part of the legendary sanin and both are mentors to Naruto and Kabuto respectively?

No not really. A Evil Counterpart has to either have a similar past, powers and abilities, or personality to the hero that they are a counterpart. Other than both of them being sannin, Jiraiya and Orochimaru have absolutely nothing in common.

The Ambiguous Gender entry on this page claims that Oro’s currently inside a new host, specifically a younger one. But was this confirmed anywhere?

Kishimoto confirmed that Oro achieved immortality sometime after the original series, so I was under the impression that he looked more youthful due to his immortality and doesn’t need to steal bodies anymore. In other words, what we’re seeing is Oro’s own body and not that of a host’s.
