According to this forum on kanzenshuu.com (here
for anyone interested), he is unrelated to Towa and Dabura and the references to him as "Grandpa" are only used in jest by the Japanese fandom. It seems that some Non-Japanese literate fans mistranslated/misread it as being literal, hence giving rise to this incorrect information about Mechikabura.

I got around to fixing it. Thankfully it looks like I'm not the only one who's been looking to phasing out the familial connection fanon.
Does anybody know where the grandfather part came from in regards to Mechikabura's profile? Reading the manga didn't mention any blood relation between him and Towa, besides him calling her "dear" once or twice.
