I'd say giving the Queen of Hearts a child-like face in the sequel is kind of a case of Progressively Prettier.

I think it could be argued that the three characters with whom alice speaks in the final chapter of Madness Returns actually represent the Freudian Triad; the Mad Hatter is her Id, the Caterpillar her Ego, and the Queen was stated by American Mc Gee to be her Superego.

well, the fantasy world is full of characters and enviroments that can relate to alice's mind, they can be (her ego, alter ego and super ego), but so does the rest of the game
