Should Gear 5's goofiness really be considered a broken base? From what I've seen Gear 5 itself is fairly well-received. It's just that the story surrounding it (Namely the twist that Luffy's fruit was actually a mythical zoan) was very divisive. I definitely remember some people complaining about its silliness when it was first revealed, but from what I can tell that's sort of tapered off over time.
