I was hoping to add an entry to HilariousInHindsight, comparing the Catalyst to the nascent Skynet from Film/TerminatorGenisys, as both are mass machine intelligences attempting to wipe out humanity with armies of killer robots, offer \"compromise\" in the form of forcibly subjecting humanity to a hybridization process with nanomachines, and manifest as holographic children. Then crack a joke about how, unlike the protagonist of this game, the characters in the film keep [[ShutUpHannibal shooting out his projectors mid-speech]] before blowing him up, referencing both the extreme negative reception the ending received and how shooting the Catalyst became such a symbol of it that the creators actually added a new DownerEnding for if the player \'\'does\'\' shoot him.
