CluelessAesop is enough if you ask me. As Japanese Teeth\\\'s response basically completely proves, there\\\'s none of this \\\"give up their religion for trinkets\\\" stuff mentioned at first. Just lazy writing and a case of not actually discussing the historical situation they\\\'re drawing inspiration from. As for the first episode, Twilight doesn\\\'t ever say she wants to study the magic of friendship (those are Celestia\\\'s official words), she says she doesn\\\'t want to leave her friends.

Anyway, I don\\\'t think \\\"I need to find a trope that I can use to complain about this\\\" is how TV Tropes works. Tropes are \\\"I\\\'ve seen this one before, I want to make a note of the pattern,\\\" not \\\"This is bad, I need to complain about it.\\\" People doing the latter just seem to end up adding incorrect examples a lot.
