Just lazy writing and a case of not actually discussing the historical situation they\\\'re drawing inspiration from. As for the first episode, Twilight doesn\\\'t ever say she wants to study the magic of friendship (those are Celestia\\\'s official words), she says she doesn\\\'t want to leave her friends.
Anyway, I don\\\'t think \\\"I need to find a trope that I can use to complain about this\\\" is how TV Tropes works.
