I think that kind of excuse would work better for a smaller scale villain, like a JerkJock or AlphaBitch. Even then, I think it technically might still count for this trope because rather than being abused, the villain is just a product of extremely lax parenting. Take [[AlphaBitch Regina George]] from MeanGirls for example--her mother tries to be her best friend rather than being an actual \'\'parent.\'\' It\'s not abusive, but it\'s still bad parenting.
