So the incident fits the core definition of the trope; the Bunnies are {{Complete Monster}}s who suffered a FateWorseThanDeath. What we can\'t agree on is whether they deserved to be kicked as hard as they were. I propose that we compromise by adding a footnote that the trope may or may not be subverted depending on the reader; Shinji kicked the girls so hard that for many readers they became sympathetic simply by virtue of the magnitude of the kick. Call it [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil our misplaced sense of chivalry]] or a DoubleStandard or whatever you like, but the fact remains that we don\'t all agree on this.

From a purely objective standpoint, Gendo and the Bunnies both fit the criteria; they are {{Complete Monster}}s, and Shinji kicked them. Exactly which part of the trope is supposed to be subjective isn\\\'t perfectly clear to me, but I think it\\\'s the \\\"unsympathetic villain\\\" part, and at the time they were kicked, Gendo and the Bunnies both fulfilled that requirement. The point I think we\\\'re actually disagreeing on here is whether or not they were kicked so hard that they invoked AlasPoorVillain. Since that\\\'s an audience reaction trope, I vote we put APV up with the requisite YMMV notice and stop making troping into SeriousBusiness.

That being said however, I\\\'m pretty much past caring about this page and this fic in general. If you guys can\\\'t work this out for yourselves I\\\'m just going to ask the mods to lock the page.
