* ''Literature/{{Orcs}}'' by Stan Nichols. After defecting from Jennesta's army, they decide to wreak holy hell on everyone that gets in their way, invading underground cities, defeating crime bosses, launching a raid into an UNDERWATER city, laying down the smack on church militant army and sending demons screaming back to hell. The sequel novels get even better, with them annihilating an army using...cows. Styrke and his Wolverines = Badass Crew

* There is at least one of these in every single ''VideoGame/FireEmblem'' game, but possibly the most standout example would have to be at the beginning of ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTellius Path of Radiance]]'' [[spoiler:and after part 2 of ''Radiant Dawn'']]: the Greil Mercenaries, and their eventual growth under [[BadAss Ike]] into a BadassArmy. Eventually the band of six or seven mercenaries grows into a ''50-character strong army'' led by a more mature, wiser and altogether completely awesome FourStarBadass Ike, complete with Ragnell, his WaveMotionSword.

* Anyone who says the Poles went down without a fight has never heard of the Battle of Wizna. Anywhere from 350 to 720 Poles vs [[AC:42,200]] Germans. And they held out for [[YouShallNotPass three days]] until they ran out of ammo! There's a reason the {{Sabaton}} song based on the battle was called 40:1.

* TalesOfZestiria has The Scattered Bones, an assassins guild comprised of various people that all treat each other like family. Unlike most examples of assassins they're actually the good guys and specifically target anybody that tries to instigate wars or kill innocents for profit. While they themselves are assassins they never go after innocent people regardless of the profit, and will work for relatively cheap if they deem the job nessecary. Furthermore, if you're stupid enough to try to trick them into killing an innocent they'll turn around and come after you instead.

You have a new BadassBookworm (Safiya), [[TheseAreThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow whatever One Of Many is]], a fallen angel (Kaelyn), and a Hagspawn TheCasanova (Gann). Who go on to thwart the works of the god of the dead.

* The main cast of ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' eventually attains this status; by the end of the show, we have a superpowered {{Kid|Hero}} MessianicArchetype (Aang), a powerful waterbender (Katara), the world's best earthbender and [[spoiler:first metalbender]] (Toph), [[spoiler:a powerful firebender and highly skilled swordsman (Zuko)]], and two BadassNormal warriors (Sokka and [[spoiler:Suki]]). The Order of the White Lotus probably also qualifies, being a group of [[spoiler: [[BadassGrandpa epic old men that retake Ba Sing Se]], while the Fire Nation has the advantage of Sozin's Comet backing up their entire army]].
* In the ''Last Airbender'' sequel series ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', there are two examples:
** New Team Avatar, while more a RagtagBunchOfMisfits than the main cast of the prequel show [[note]]in part because the unique skills possessed by the Gaang are not as unique by Korra's time[[/note]], definitely qualify. Korra is the Avatar and had learned how to bend three elements by the age of ''four'', later learning to metalbend and being the first Avatar to do so. Asami is a BadassNormal and CombatPragmatist, while also being an incredible driver and skilled pilot. Mako is a skilled firebender that managed to get the better of Amon and is the only member of the team to outright ''kill'' onscreen. Bolin eventually learns [[spoiler:lavabending]] and becomes incredibly devastating when he learns to use it.
** The Red Lotus, although they are a villainous version of the trope. Their leader is recently turned airbender Zaheer [[spoiler: who uses airbending to asphyxiate his victims]] and was previously [[BadassNormal a threat equal to his peers without any bending]], the [[MagmaMan lavabender]] Ghazan, [[StuffBlowingUp combustion bender]] P'Li, and psychopathic waterbender Ming-Hua, [[HandicappedBadass who is armless and uses waterbending to create lethal limbs]].
