If Charlie is also present and is more prone to harshly criticize Alice for her ineptitude, you might have Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand. It seems like the trope requires that both sides be present somehow, not just Bob's "gentle touch" approach all by itself.
Bob could also be The Heart, The Chick (if female), Team Mom, or a similar role within the team, if he is more concerned about maintaining harmony than anything else.
