Your mama may have had eyes in the back of her head, but our admin team just can't see everything at once. It takes a village to make sure TVTropes is running the way it should, so when it comes to spotting tech snafus, dreaming up a better digital mousetrap, or just diagnosing plain old asshattery, the quicker you let us know something's up, the quicker we can address it. See a bug? Point to it and we'll squash it. Have idea for a new feature? Post in the Tech Wishlist.
NOTE: Do not post duplicate bug queries, please check existing queries to see if your issue has already been reported and then comment on it.
I'm seeing this too, especially with ads run/hosted by "PROPER" (can't find the Uppercase Sigma to replace the 'E' in the name on my Google keyboard...). And inmy case I've seen this in Chrome v55 and Chrome Dev v57 and v 58.
Edited by CurledUpWithDakkaA potentially relevant factoid I forgot to mention earlier: the X button works when the ad appears while viewing an article's history.
ETA: Scratch that. No longer true.
Edited by Spinosegnosaurus77 Peace is the only battle worth waging. This may count as "separate issue", but I'm starting to suspect the 'ads' are causing screen-jitter issues.
Seen this a lot. So annoying. You have to zoom in on it and click it a little bit more, but sometimes it still sends you to the top.
We don't control the ad content; ergo they are not "bugs". Report ad issues by clicking the report link under the ad or here.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
On the mobile site, clicking the X on the upper right corner on ads doesn't close the ad — sometimes it even sends you to the top of the page.
