Given the context, are you sure it's something you've actually heard tonnes of times before and not something deliberately written to sound like a tonne of things you've heard before?

I'm pretty sure it's some piece of stock music, but then again, you could be right. Guess I'll know if I ever hear it again!

sounds like a knockoff of the Star Wars theme.

This is a parody of the theme from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The scene is a parody of Star Trek, so it makes sense. If you've ever seen TNG or the movie series and heard the actual theme during the opening credits, or the music that plays during scene changes, it would sound familiar to you. (For example, the music that plays when there's an establishing shot of outer space and Kirk or Picard says "Captain's log..." followed by some exposition.)
