It kind of happens in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, since he's hanging by his strap at one point, but that's on a tank (plus he falls off a cliff, but hangs onto vines instead). Can't think of much else at this point.
Does anybody know of a adventure type film in which there is a character who has a lucky backpack and at some point during the film he appears to fall to his death but then is saved by his backpack strap catching on something? I'm pretty sure I saw it around the late 90s. For a long time I thought it was a jurrassic park film but then I rewatched them and ruled them out.
