You can start by checking this page: The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours. Key points:

  • No entries which rely on insider info; it should be something verifiable by outsiders. This applies to trivia, too (when possible, it's best to state the source).
  • No touching the YMMV page, as creator or people related to them are inherently biased. At least, no adding, removing or heavily modifying entries.
  • General rules against edit wars still apply; if you run into disagreement with someone, try to discuss it first.

There's generally no difference from editing regular pages, aside that the author is extra burdened to check that all information is apparent from reading the work, and authors can't be trusted with subjective examples. If there's an argument over page's examples of style, the author being pushy can warrant a report.

Fair enough. I'm mainly interested in sprucing up the main page and can see how YMMV material would be left to other users.
