Too common to trope. Of course, if the character had been fretting, worrying, making zany plans and in the end it turns out all they needed to do was ask, then yes, that's a plot, related to You Were Trying Too Hard, although I'm not sure if it's covered by this precise trope. But that might be a good starting point.

Is there a trope for when a character wants something and gets it simply by asking nicely?
Politeness Judo is the closest one I've found. Is there a more appropriate trope?
