There's Invented Individual but it focuses more on cases where the new persona becomes unexpectedly popular.

I'll keep that in mind but keep looking. This was more to escape her past and possible war crimes. The story is set in the future and I'm not sure if what she did qualifies but it certainly weighs on her mind to the point the AI had to alter her personality when she gave her a new identity. She was aware she used to be a high admiral but didn't realize she was an alter.

Mmm, no, that doesn't apply to what I was talking about. The character is abandoning her old life and starting anew with a new name and rank but is still part of the same military she was before.

Still, that does apply to something unrelated in the same story. Thanks anyway.
