, but yes, given the time-sent it is possible that the pinger simply reedited the message. You have my support on this and the other report, however, I'm not sure what can be done about it other than preventing pings beyond a certain number in a certain amount of time, or from the same post, thread, user and so on.

I think those may actually be manually written PMs copying text/subject lines from pings they've received. Note how they say "Trope Talk page" and not "Trope Talk post". Also, checking the contents of those PMs, they are formatted slightly differently from normal pings.
Odd that it would have the notification bell, though.

Tested on myself and it turns out the notification bell is triggered by the subject line starting with "Check out this"
