For those not familiar with those works, can you explain what this goofy relationship entails?

the main protagonist is a girl and always acts as an older sibling, despite them not actually being related. younger/physically smaller(?) character has a sidekick role, where some of the conflicts are created by this character.

NOT bluey and bingo (bluey's adventures)

Younger boy is always with the main character, and used to explain exposition. boy is a Comedic and joking character, but never unknowingly the butt of the joke

Also the main character is always acknowledging their worth and making it evident that they are a very important part of the show

Although younger boy is marketed/introduced as a sidekick, they are just as well developed and never overshadowed by the main character, unlike any 'normal' sidekicks in mainstream media. This may be because its a kids show and not show for adult?

For a simpler version, think of Darwin and Gumball in first few seasons of TAWOG, except that Gumball is harder to be sympathetic to. dynmaic is healthier and also never changes.

Ty for helping me find a name for this trope.

Look at Sidekick and related tropes mentioned there. We do have Mr. Exposition.
