When a character is trying to keep a secret from their peers. They eventually find out, only to reveal that their peers also have similar secrets. For example, in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Shell of a Man," Mr. Krabs is meeting with some of his old navy buddies, but he doesn't want them to find out that he is not as tough as he used to be and that he has lost his shell. Eventually, it's revealed that his friends are also not as tough as they used to be and all reveal secrets about themselves. Another example is in The Amazing World of Gumball episode "The Fraud," where Principal Brown doesn't want the school to know that his diploma is fake. The school staff finds out, but it's revealed that all of them have also previously lied on their résumés.
