The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
If this is in a trailer or preview (one supposes the plot synopsis on the back cover or inside jacket of the book counts), In a World… for stock openers in general.
Cosmic Motifs and Space Is Magic seem related.
It seems difficult to trope this as a general attitude. If the story is about space, then of course they're going to play up how amazing space is. If everyone in the story is really fanatical about space, it could be Serious Business (and the same would apply if they were fanatical about any other mundane topic).
The opening line for Cosmic Motifs captures it exactly: "Space has fascinated humanity since time immemorial, and continues to feature as a theme or character motif to the present day."
I think of it as a trope because the stock phrasing was so dominant during the Space Race and continues today.
Full disclosure: I'm actually doing a dissertation on this and finding TV Tropes a very useful collection of short hand, ideas, and references for talking about tropes and archetypes. Therefore, your help is greatly, greatly appreciated. If I can get enough mojo from the site, I'll definitely want to include it in the acknowledgements.
It's a pretty stock opening in non-fiction books, films, and shows about space exploration and it goes a little something like this...
"Since the dawn of time, humans have looked at the stars..."
Variants include have dreamed of traveling to the heavens, gazed at the stars with longing, etc. The general idea is that humans have wanted to go to space since the stone age.
