I think Green Eyed Monster goes too far for the example I was thinking of — he doesn't hate the cat nor see it as an obstacle, he just feels jealous of its position on her lap for a moment.

I've looked at Envy and Jealousy Tropes, but I'm not sure what's the best match for seeing your crush stroke a pet that's on their lap, and feeling jealous of the pet.
