Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I've wanted an on-page cleanup for ages because I really don't know what the criteria for that item is at this point. People have gone from adding stock parody jokes to mostly just adding stock fandom jokes (which better fits the expanded Memetic Mutation definition). In addition to that, almost none of the examples actually explain how frequently the joke comes up in parodies, which feels like it could technically be a ZCE.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.^If we do make a cleanup thread, which subforum would it go in? Trope Repair Shop, or Projects: Short Term?
It's on page examples that mostly prove problematic, which can be cleaned up relatively quickly with enough effort, so probably short term.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I remember there being a Pokémon entry that went on a tangent about gender identity that rubbed me the wrong way because of how out-of-place it felt.
I've removed the HP Lovecraft entry for being about the creator themselves (as opposed to most examples of SPJ, which are at least about the works they're parodying). In fact, that was the most recent addition to the page, it was added only last week.
Edited by Shadow8411Just found recent edits which may be either clean-up or vandalism. The troper ImperialMajestyXO just deleted whole parts of several Stock Parody Jokes subpages, cutting absolutely all the examples of Fairy Tales and Visual Novels, as well as examples about Poe's The Raven (those were parts of larger edits which also added content). None of those edits had been justified. The examples themselves looked valid in theory, but I don't know those fandoms enough to certify if the examples cut were actual stock jokes among the fans.

Edit: Nevermind, those examples have just been moved to the "Other" subpage. I just was suspicious because of the lack of justification for the edit.
Edit 2: Sorry, I didn't notice the link to the clean-up thread.

I think Stock Parody Jokes may need a cleanup. Some of them are just making comments about the quality of a work (such as "the Super Mario Bros movie is bad" or "the later SpongeBob seasons are just mean-spirited grossout") instead of specific kinds of jokes parodies do.
Also, some of the examples are getting redundant (nearly every work with anthropomorphic animals has a "the show is furry bait" example), and there's even an example related not to the work, but to the author ("HP Lovecraft was racist" is listed under the Cthulhu Mythos in the Literature page, even though that's a joke about Lovecraft himself, not the Cthulhu Mythos).
