I'm curious how profitable H*R ever was.
It was big enough for them to quit their day jobs.

As I said, if their spouses did enough money, that might not be much of an issue, moving from doing something really profitable to doing something less so but you love doing.

I should also point out that I don't think that Homestar Runner's brand of humor would extend well to a twenty-minute show. Possibly a "two shorts" format could be feasible, but still questionable.

I just don't think it'd work well as a tv show, Executive Meddling or not.

[up]I think it could work if they had to. Uncle Grandpa consists of about 2-5 shorts about as long as a typical H*R cartoon per 15 minute time block.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great

Hm. You may have a point there.

Quitting your dayjob is expensive if you have no other form of income.

The implication being that Homestarrunner.com was a source of income sufficient to make quitting their dayjob free.

I just checked HRWiki on a random whim and...

...wow, it's really been four years...

I really did tear up at the new segment. The song and the conversation at the end made it feel like it was the Most Definitely Series Finale, even though the fact that it's even there means that's probably not the case. I didn't think I'd ever get this emotional over a silly little slice-of-life cartoon.

So.... after years, the site never had any confirmation that it's done, even though we never got any activity. .... should we consider this additional animation a final send-off?

I don't see why you would. They had that video at that con that one time, and it wasn't a final send-off.

So should they just up and tell us when a final send-off occurs?

I was never into this anyways. This was before the rise if stuff like You Tube where you could launch your own animated series, and you had do it on your own website using flash. Those days are over (mostly) .

[up]They still haven't 100% confirmed the return yet. And even if they do, there is lot of factors involved as to whether they can keep it up on a regular basis.

But it's still great to know they're excited about making new HR stuff.
