I saved Shura, of course. Boots are nice, but compared to a new unit with a Killer Bow, a staff, and the ability to make the next level much easier, the trade's just not there.

Not really. Aren't there two pairs of boots per path in this one anyway?

Killing Shura for his boots is worthwhile if you're not going to use him anyway, though I always just keep him around. I like seeing him in the castle.

You know, Shura and Grieth would probably get along well, as ninja pirates.

Ekimmak: If you particularly like Merchants, Midori's personal makes her the only one other than maybe Corrin who can make reasonably good use of the class. Otherwise, yeah, Mechanist is generally the better choice.

Well, what I was actually asking was if there's any point to use the offspring seal for merchant rather than mechanist, when mechanist will give more skills off the bat.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.

If you really want to nab the Merchant skills (or just one of them) but not stick with the class, it would make more sense to Promote to Merchant, nab the skill/s and then Heart Seal to Mechanist.

Also, Felicia is damn good with that Flame Shuriken. It can also be worth it to just swap her to Strategist either after she gets Live to Serve so she can start getting those Tome ranks early, or after she gets Tome Breaker if you're stubborn and want to increase her survivability further against mages.

Update no one cares about: Gray has eventually gained 1 (one) point in Attack, god bless his soul. Celica's route has a much more endearing cast. I'm done with it (I think, I haven't gone to the castle yet) and Genny keeps being my highest-level unit and has so far gained 1 (one) level which didn't increase her Attack, which is kind of hilarious for a healer compared to all the other games. But then it turns out she apparently only has Support conversations with like one character in the whole game who I don't even have yet. She's just standing over there being obviously the best character ever but I only get to hear her talk in battle.

This game just keeps taunting me.

Since I finished SoV Main Story, I'm back in investigating how much of a Mary Sue Kris is. And now I just finished Chapter 10. So to recap, my current score is 5.

Stat tracking time at Chapter 9! Except since I'm no mage, obviously my MAG is 0. Therefore, Marth says I'm bad at magic. Buuut if I happen to be good, he'd say I won't lose to Merric. So... I'll give it 0.5 Sue point. 5.5.

And another tracker for unit losses! Jagen this time. Since I performed well... well he says I'm the support with Marth at core. Yep, Marth is still the forefront, and Kris support. But I guess I'm sure people will say that "What about the others? Like, maybe, his fiancee?", but if I lose a lot... well let's just say Jagen is a sad old man looking at the losses. But unit-survival tracking this feels like the worst in 'praising' Kris' importance, so I'll give it 1 point. 6.5 now.

Oh and finally here's one scene where Kris stole Jagen's line... It was at the beginning of Chapter 9, when Jagen asked how should they proceed... That's it? That's the first line Kris stole and everyone gets fed up by it? Really??

That's not even worth a point. It was a generic line that is stolen, and Jagen still came back with the bulk of more important thing (The Archanean army under Astram chasing them)

Awakening Chapter 4: Two Falchions

It looks like I'm going to have to fight in Arena Ferox to get Flavia back in charge and get us the aid we seek. So be it. And it turns out the West-Khan's champion is "Marth" (ok, so I got spoiled on this by Super Smash Bros., but for now I'll play along until the official reveal). This chapter wasn't too difficult, though. I split my forces to go up the sides of the map in the early stages, then converged when it was time to fight the boss. Chrom needed some healing to take out the boss, but eventually, he prevailed.

Turns: 7

Heroes: Chrom and Lissa

Now I'm wondering what exactly the criteria are to be named a Hero of a chapter, because Lissa being named one means it's obviously not based entirely on kills or damage.

Anyway, in the following cutscene, the defeated West-Khan gives us the aid of Lon'qu the Myrmidon. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action. And we also learn of a crisis at the Plegian border which will apparently be the focus of the next chapter.

I've now also unlocked the Outrealm Gate (where I can purchase DLC), and also the Barracks, just in time for Chrom's birthday! As in, close enough to the end of the day that Lon'qu asked me what I was doing up so late.

Awakening Chapter 5: The Exalt and the King

King Gangrel of Plegia certainly lives up to his nickname of "the Mad King", with him declaring that genocide is a more noble wish than peace. But thankfully, Ricken the Mage showed up and freed Marbelle the Troubador from her captors. But they were still behind enemy lines when the actual fight began. So, my first move was to pair up Ricken to Maribelle, Move them to the corner where they were out of attack range. then have Lissa warp them back to us with her Rescue staff. With them safely with the rest of the party, I could now focus on the task at hand; routing the enemy. Given the beatdowns Dark Mages handed me in the skirmishes, I was expecting a tough fight, but the actual dark magic spells exclusive to them don't seem to be very accurate. I brought Sumia along and gave her the Javelin Kellam joined with to make her a quite effective mage killer. For the most part, I made my way up the pass through the narrow middle path, with my sword wielders taking on the Barbarians and my Mages fighting the Dark Mages and Wyvern Riders with their Wind magic (which Aversa seemed rather averse to in the pre-fight banter). On my last turn, I took a chance by putting an Elwind-equipped Miriel onto the top fort to take on the boss and the last remaining Wyvern Rider. But she quickly dodged the Wyvern Rider's attack and finished him off, ending the chapter.

So I decided to take that three-branch class tree I made a long time ago and revise it; trimmed out some superfluous classes (though it's still excessively large), joined them together more smoothly with cooler joint promotions, and changed some names around, among other things. Check it out and give me some feedback if you're interested.

Blue is base classes, orange is promoted classes, red is special classes, green is DLC, purple is amiibo-unit-only.

While I applaud most efforts at streamlining, I feel like there's more possibility space in an FE with lots of classes, at least if it follows the Awakening/Fates model.

I sure said that!

I mostly just removed a few Fates classes that were redundant with pre-existing classes. Like Oni Savage being unnecessary when you have both Fighters and Barbarians running about.

They took out Warriors. There is no punishment fit enough for this crime.

FE Warriors better be just all Warrior characters.
