I thought she was smelling the lingering presence of Komachi in the house.

Well, she said it was coming from Kasen. And Komachi was only on the roof, not inside the house.

For something like smelling "death" from a shinigami, I wonder if it's actual literal scent, or if she's describing some magical sense in terms of scent.

I think that's likely, but she also says she has a better nose than a wolf so maybe Celestials just have generic supersenses. Because why wouldn't they?

That honestly makes me imagine a heaven that is full of smells that are harsh and revolting by Earthling standards, because our senses aren't fine enough to appreciate them.

That's not how senses work. People with stronger taste buds find more foods disgusting.

Another fangame trial got released. This one is in English! Good danmaku, though I question how fragments work. And the shottypes^note Reimu is fairly normal and I'm assuming Marisa is as well, but Shou here has a fairly strange shot and Hecatia's is bizarre

I think that's just what you do when you have big sleeves.

Holding a sleeve near the mouth seems to be a common princess-y thing in various Japanese media. I could have sworn I've seen it in some old mangas, though I can't remember where.

You see the same thing with paper fans as well in manga and anime. It just seems to be a general idea that covering one's mouth is something elegant people do. Or posh, if you will.

Beauty standards are ever shifting and ever weird and at one point teeth were considered unattractive

So are Tenshi's Sun Wukong references enough to qualify her for Monkey King Lite, or just Shout-Out? She has the golden headband on her sleeves, and flying on a keystone is sort of like flying on a cloud, but otherwise she doesn't have much of the look down (the Sword of Hisou is only like a Telescoping Staff if you really squint, and almost no one references Wukong being born from stone).

Also, do we have enough candidates for a retelling of Journey to the West with Tenshi in the Wukong role, and does Shion fit any of the others?

I'd point out Tenshi did a very Wukong thing and ate some immortality-inducing objects without permission and proceeded to get kicked out of heaven for it.

and she eats an immortality-granting peach for one of her spells in AOCF. So she is, like Wukong, immortal in at least 3 different ways (training, dumplings, peaches), yes?
