Touhou

My personal reading of is that is that typhoons are still considered literal forces of nature that humankind can only hope to endure. A natural disaster is still considered an "Act of God". So in that sense hurricanes and earthquakes are still objects of fear in the same sense as youkai. So in that sense they exist as youkai, even in the outside world. Super-youkai. Even with all our technology, we haven't "overcome" hurricanes.

Plus, it's not like Mamizou hasn't been chilling in the outside world for centuries.

Individual Typhoons are given NAMES by humans in the real world. Although I don't know if ZUN was taking that into consideration, but it would make sense.

Really heartwarming seeing Reimu and Marisa smiling and joking around with each other like that.

Even ZUN and Harukawa Moe agree: Hair Bows are so last season. By 2020, Reimu's hair bow would have been completely eradicated.

I feel like it's worth noting that both Akyu and Reimu have the exact same reaction to their friends wanting go out into the storm.

I dunno, I don't think Kosuzuu's all that excited for a storm. She's just being rather diligent. Marisa definitely is definitely all for dat storm though. By the time of the last page, I'm pretty sure Kosuzuu is really not going to like the storm.

Actually, my comment was referring to the two identical author's notes with arrows in the chapter! One for Marisa, then the same one for Suzu a bit later. Briefly thought they might be a mistake, but probably not, just a little joke

Remember that youkai fox student that hoodwinked Reimu in Forbidden Scrollery 18 and 19? There are actually art of that kid in Danbooru. I wish I hadn't found it. Sigh.

Anyway, Is Scarlet Curiosity only going to released on the PS 4? It seems to be a game I would and could play. after getting a PS 4 that is. It also appear to be going to be the biggest english-translated Touhou game released in the west.

Yeah, it's only on the PS 4 as a digital download title. Genso Rondo is physical and also only on the PS 4. The Genso Wanderer dungeon-crawler game will come out on the PS 4 AND the Vita physical, but we don't know when yet.

Speaking of snakes, the Moriya Shrine sure is pretty inactive these days. You'd think they'd be conspiring some more.

Also speaking of snakes, I wonder how that Evil Dragon's doing? also, Kosuzuu's Dragon fish print, where did Kosuzuu put it? We've never seen that conversation starter again.

They had the dam project, the uh sky tram project, the nuclear reactor project, the fission project, and the giant advertising balloon project all relatively recently. Maybe they've just gone back to the drawing board.

Hmmm, I'd say that they never really were schemers or conspirers to begin with? Or, at least, they're not anymore by now. Hmm, yeah, the whole Utsuho Thing was pretty shady, but they never wanted it to escalate as it did...

As Bocaj rightfully pointed out, what they do, and have been doing since the beginning, is to simply spread their faith openly; giving people services in exchange for worship, with no deceit or scheming that I can see , compared to the other usual suspects (Lunarians, Mamizou, also Kasen lately). They have a stable thing going, now.

Now that I actually think about it, the Moriyas never really were much foul players. The whole Utsuho debacle was an unexpected result and they've never really done anything too harmful or deceitful. Makes one wonder how did the forbidden template ever included them.^note I'm well aware it's because of their involvement in FIVE games, with the incidents being related to them one way or another.

In other news, Danbooru now has a no_animal_ears tag. So find all the Chens, Rans, Kagerous, Momijis, Reisens, and Tewis without their means of listening and place it there. I also found this nice Momiji pic.

Come to think about it, aside from this forum, pretty much every other time someone mentions a "forbidden template" relating to Touhou, most use the old original template, despite it being hardly usable in most recent situations. No Mamizou, No Seija, No Lunarians, No Kasen, No Kosuzu, Nothing.

IIRC didn't the evil dragon say that it'll only pop out after a few hundred years? I believe it'll stay dormant for quite a while.

Come to think of it, it's a shame the manga has so many one-off side characters that never show up ever again beyond their initial appearance.

I'm also certain we won't ever see Snake Man Youkai or Addict with Eyes ever again.

Same place as her Tengu-language scroll. Many elements of the manga are one-off and usually don't appear again unless ZUN can write them into a plot such as the Dragon Statue.

Indeed! (If this were Fables, we would have gotten a small aside comic by now actually showing this distant future in which the Evil Dragon actually awakens... and, being Fables, it would either have been very dark and depressing, or completely inconsequential, or both...)
