Well, gunpowder's kinda a thing already. Alice uses it in her dolls, and the people of Gensokyo know that guns exist (though little more than that, it seems). As for Gemstones... There's gotta be some youkai based around gems, right? Hmmm. Guess what, I don't know how central gems actually were to the ancient Japanese. Maybe they just... weren't much of a thing. Which would mean no one ever came up with a youkai involving them. Which would mean seeing one now as anything other than a tsukumogami would be unlikely.
This amuses me, because it's opposite in canon; Everyone's like "Holy geez there's a 12 foot pink cloud making angry faces at me!" And then Ichirin says something and they're like "And it talks!" Refreshing/interesting spin to see people forgetting the effectively silent Unzan instead of the aggressive Ichirin.
I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.Suika uses fireworks for some of her standard attacks, and one of the tools in ISC was a giant firework/bomb.
Yeah, Gensokyo's only about 150 years old. They definitely had gunpowder by then.
That's the thing with magic, though. Why invent firearms when you have to potential to essentially become a walking cannon?

Song of the SirensMarisa runs an FFV-cosplay shop?
I actually find myself wondering about affection and antifection. How big of a deal is a single point? It doesn't seem like a lot, probably, unless Ichirin really seriously thinks less of her for LARPing. Also, I assume it's not a static thing - like in any relationship, you could take for granted that there are affection and antifection points flying back and forth all the time, and it's more an art of balance rather than building towards an Ending. (Maybe I'm not being gamist enough there, though.)
@Gemstone character: I was thinking that maybe the said character would be Magician who channels her magic through different types of gemstones.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! What, no cannoneer/oracle/necromancer/Gladiator? (/obscure GBA port classes)
Also, what, you think Marisa's got a trademark on the 'lying witch' label?
I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.NEXT TIME ON SILVERQUEST: WE CONSIDER THE STRANGENESS THAT CLASS OUTFITS ARE THE DEFAULT OUTFIT OF A CHARACTER THAT STARTED AS THAT CLASS. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED JOB SYSTEMS ARE A MAJOR FASHION FAUX PAS.

Song of the SirensOh those last ones look fantastic
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYes. Yes, I do think that
You mean 'skeevy', I hope that quest was so creepy

Skeevy? Puts me in mind of flamenco dresses or something. Not much skeeve about it just on appearances. I'm not familiar with the quest or anything though.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGotta say, whenever I get that, "Uh, you're serious?" reponse in Visual Novels or Video Games I tend to be amused.
If you want to encourage someone getting dressed up in interesting costumes, what you need to do is pick one that's slightly more embarrassing than what you want the other person to wear, although not one so embarrassing that the other person just doesn't want to be seen standing next to you. Embarrassing usually means either silly or showing a lot of skin. Bonus points for both, although the latter is probably better for raising relationship points. Therefore, the Beastmaster would be funny, for a variety of reasons. My favourite class was always the Mime, though. And the Monk. Can't go wrong with that. And the Thief. And for that game, I find the Blue Mage the most classic. Not quite sure why.
Check out my fanfiction! So, someone made an animated version of two of the Shinmyoumaru/Reimu scenes from Forbidden Scrollery. (Specifically this scene )

You know, I think she might be lying. With that much hair, you don't get cold there. In my experience.
Check out my fanfiction!I'm reminded that atrican hates that translation.
Anyway, just fought Yorihime in FMW and it was everything I dreamed of. I have a 0% chance to hit her with anything, and she has a 350% chance to kill anyone in one hit (having more than 100% accuracy seems to be a special mechanic she gets: it effectively acts as a damage multiplier, plus making ordinary dodging pretty much impossible). Oh yeah, and she acts twice per turn. I mean, it was actually going sorta okay tank-wise until she pulled out the Thunder God and starts whupping ass. Then I just scatter everyone to the far corners of the map and hope I can time her out before she kills everyone. I'm playing on Easy by the way.
And then it does a cutscene where everyone comes to together to do all their team attacks on her, and... they completely fail and we run away. I am so happy right now.

Since they're so good, it's difficult for me to pick a favorite thing about the -quests, but... the way it always shifts game genres effortlessly (not to mention that a comic pretends to be a game to begin with), just adding new genres without explanation, all for the lulz, is high up there Love it.
And then it does a cutscene where everyone comes to together to do all their team attacks on her, and... they completely fail and we run away. I am so happy right now.
Awesome! Well, I would be happy too, but... didn't someone in the thread already kill her anyway like a week ago?
Adorable!

Presumably the cutscene would happen anyway, since it's a basic game mechanic that bosses heal to full after each spellcard to start the next one. Also before the battle starts she gives you a choice of how seriously she's going to fight. Naturally I chose the toughest option (on Easy mode though), and therefore couldn't even hit her without using limited auto-hit abilities.

Ah, I see Well, that's alrighty then... so she wasn't really defeated, just knocked down by one combat phase for a short while (just like in canon!).
I like that Katana Moonsister has now become our Lord British... best beware of peaches coated in rat poison!
For what it's worth, Sunny saved Remilia's life by jumping in and blocking the sungodbeam (which didn't hurt her at all because sun). Like, that was a scripted event.
Sunny's OP, plz nerf.

Ah, I missed that! I committed the classic blunder!
