^ Oh yeah, speaking of the Quistis card, you'll wanna grab the chocobo (I think) rare card from the kid running around the lobby too before you leave.

Thanks for all the information, guys. I’ll get those cards first.

After getting the Quistis card, as I’m returning to the lobby I get my first salary payment, and my See D rank goes up to 5. Outside, Cid tells our group of me, Selphie, and Zell that our mission is to support a resistance faction in Timber. The password is “But the owls are still around”. Afterwards, I get an item called a Magical Lamp from Cid, but it says to save before using it, so I’ll wait a bit. I also play a game of Triple Triad and manage to get the Seifer card from him. With that, I’m off.

I head to Balamb and wander around for a bit (while doing so, I get another salary payment where my rank goes back down to 4…bummer) until I stumble across the train station. I pay the 3000 gil and board the train. Zell and Selphie seem pretty excited about being on the train, while Squall is less enthusiastic. We go out into the hallway and Zell and I find the private cabin for SeeD members, where I receive a magazine called “Pet Pals Vol. 1”. I’m not sure how that’ll be useful, but okay.

Zell informs me that Timber is a country under Galbadian occupation, but filled with resistance factions. Selphie comes in and announces that she’s not feeling well before she and Zell go out stone cold, and Squall does so shortly after. Suddenly I’m in control of three guys named Laguna, Kiros, and Ward. Zell, Selphie, and Squall’s thoughts can still be heard, however, and they seem to be just as confused as I am.

Just ahead, I draw some Cures from a draw point, at which point I notice that all my Junctions have already been transferred to these three. A couple areas later, I learn that they’re fighting against Timber, only for Kiros to figure out that they’re lost and Laguna to announce that they’re heading back to their home, Deling City. There I head down the street until the way is blocked, so I enter the Galbadia Hotel. Here I save my game and decide to head downstairs. Here I learn that their heads have been buzzing ever since they were in Timber. Interesting…

I sit down at a table and the pianist, Julia, shows up. Apparently Laguna has a crush on her. He nervously walks up to her before his leg cramps up and he limps away…only to come back and wave to her. He returns to his table; later Julia walks up to him and Laguna tries to talk to her, but keeps stuttering. Since everyone is listening in, Julia asks him to meet her in her room. Oh, Laguna, you ladies’ man, you.

Up in Julia’s room Laguna continues to act awkwardly. Julia says she’s noticed him coming to listen to her play so often, and she has some sort of obsession with his eyes. Later on, Laguna loosens up and tells Julia that he wants to become a journalist someday before asking Julia about her dreams for the future. She says she wants to sing, but she’s no good at writing lyrics. She says that thanks to Laguna she thinks she’ll be able to come up with something though.

…And now we’re back in the train to Timber. The whole thing was some sort of dream that they were all having at once. Well, okay then. That was weird. Let’s move on. The train arrives at Timber and we run into the resistance group that hired us, the Forest Owls. We meet their leader Zone and a member named Watts. They talk about their “princess,” and tell Squall to go get her. He goes begrudgingly, and Zone suddenly crouches over and complains about his stomach hurting. Yeah, sure, make excuses.

In the next room I find a save point, so I go ahead and save my game. Next time I’ll use that Magical Lamp.
