Sound Effects Requests thread

So I'm working on a comic and coming up with sound effects is difficult but this could also be applicable to Prose too so I might as well start this thread.

I was thinking we could make requests or something for sound effect descriptions or onomatopoeia in general and other tropers can help provide them.

I'll start with my request. In the chapter I'm working on my main characters set off an alarm while raiding a place and the siren goes off. I was thinking of a "OOO Ooooo OOO Ooooo OOO Ooooo" kind of sound effect but I'm not sure if that's the best I can come up with (although I think it would look quite nice visually)

What do you guys think?

Depends on the type of alarm. It's generally somewhere along the lines of "Bwoo" or "Bwee" in my mind. Which might not work well for a serious comic.

Thanks Voltech, I was originally going to do a weeooooweeooo sound but figured that it was more for an ambulance rather than a security siren, I think I'll go with Ren!ren! short but loud

^Glad I could be of service. I've had a bit of practice, after all.

In your case, Shadow Scythe, I recommend having a different alarm that goes STIMPY! STIMPY!

I've always been fond of "AWOOGA! AWOOGA!"

Seconding the awoooga.

Got any more needed sound effects?

Ok further into my story now (by which I mean one chapter -_-) And I need a sound effect for essentially an earthquake. I tried looking at some old western comics I had and their sound effects were stuff like "RUUUUMMMMMBLLLEEE" which just seems like an unsound effect to me.

Also I need a sound effect for what would be the equivalent of, I guess, The Hulk punching through a giant metal door. I'd read through hulk myself but I'm not sure where to start and if it would be worth it (I mean if it was just another unsound effect I'd be kinda annoyed)

On my own comic, I eventually decided that all sound effects look sort of goofy to me, so I'm just going to use Unsound Effects even for things that have widely accepted onomatopoeia.

BKKRRRRRMM... is the best I got.

WHPANK! or BWHAM!, perhaps?

That's a good idea for a comedy. May lead to Narm in a more serious work, though.

Personally, I don't like using onomatopoeia that everyone's familiar with, like "Pow" "Splat" or "Ka-Boom". It's much more fun to come up with your own. Heck, I used "Whcrunch" in a comic earlier today.
